Privacy Policy

How InvestmentShala handles your data — in plain English.

🔒 The short version: I only collect the bare minimum needed to send you the newsletter (your email). I never sell your data. I never share it with advertisers. You can unsubscribe any time.

1. Who I am

InvestmentShala is operated by an individual finance professional based in Lucknow, India. You can contact me at the contact page for any privacy-related questions.

2. What data I collect

I keep data collection minimal:

  • Newsletter signups — If you subscribe, I collect your email address (and your name, if you provide it).
  • Contact messages — If you email me, I receive the email address and contents of your message.
  • Basic analytics — WordPress.com automatically collects anonymous usage data (pages visited, country of visitor, referring source). I do NOT use Google Analytics or third-party tracking pixels.
  • Comments — If commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, I receive the email, name, and comment content.

I do not collect: phone numbers, addresses, financial information, identification documents, PAN, Aadhaar, or any sensitive personal data.

3. How I use your data

Your data is used only for these purposes:

  • Sending you the newsletter you signed up for.
  • Replying to messages you send me.
  • Understanding which articles are popular (anonymous analytics).
  • Complying with legal obligations if required.

I will never:

  • Sell your data to anyone.
  • Share your data with advertisers or marketers.
  • Add you to any newsletter without your explicit signup.
  • Use your data for purposes you didn’t agree to.

4. Where your data is stored

This site is hosted on WordPress.com (operated by Automattic Inc., USA). Any data you submit through this site — newsletter signups, contact messages, comments — is stored on WordPress.com’s servers. They have their own privacy policy, which I encourage you to read.

Newsletter emails may be sent through WordPress.com’s built-in email feature or an external service (such as Mailchimp or Substack) in the future. If I switch, I will update this page and notify subscribers.

5. Cookies

This site uses minimal cookies — only those required by WordPress.com to operate the site (session, security, basic analytics). I do not place advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party tracking cookies.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as expected.

6. Your rights

Under Indian data protection law (and global standards like GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Access the data I hold about you.
  • Correct any inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data (right to be forgotten).
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter any time using the link in every email.
  • Withdraw consent for any data processing.

To exercise any of these rights, just send a message via the contact page. I will respond within 30 days.

7. Data retention

Newsletter subscriber emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to handle your query, typically deleted after 6–12 months. WordPress.com analytics data is retained according to their policy.

8. Children

This site is intended for adults (18+). I do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has submitted information here, please contact me and I will delete it immediately.

9. Security

This site uses HTTPS encryption for all traffic. WordPress.com handles server-side security. While I take reasonable steps to protect your data, no online system is 100% secure. By using this site, you accept that risk.

10. Changes to this policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the newsletter and on this page. The “Last updated” date at the bottom will reflect any revisions.

Your trust matters to me. If anything about how your data is handled feels unclear or unfair, please reach out — I’ll address it.
