Honest financial education,
without the sales pitch.
For salaried professionals who want to understand their money — not be sold to.
The problem with personal finance content in India
If you’ve ever tried to learn about investing online, you’ve likely run into one of two extremes — overly technical jargon written for finance professionals, or aggressive sales content disguised as “advice” that always ends with a referral link.
Meanwhile, the people who actually need this knowledge — salaried professionals trying to make sense of where to put their money — are left navigating SIPs, tax-saving instruments, NPS, ELSS, ULIPs, and a hundred other acronyms with no real guide.
InvestmentShala exists to bridge that gap. No sponsorships. No referral links. No “best fund of the year” lists. Just clear, practical guidance from someone who works in this industry every day.
Who’s behind this
I’m a finance professional based in Lucknow with several years of experience in tax consulting and audit. I’ve spent my career helping individuals and businesses navigate the complexity of Indian taxation, financial reporting, and compliance.
An MBA in Finance taught me the theory. Years of hands-on work with real clients — salaried individuals, small business owners, professionals — taught me what actually matters when it comes to personal finance.
For now, I’m choosing to keep this blog anonymous. Not because I’m hiding — but because I want the focus to stay on the information itself, not on building a personal brand. The advice should stand on its own merits.
“The best financial advice isn’t complicated. It just needs to be honest, specific, and free of conflicts of interest.”
Three core areas, explained clearly
Mutual funds & SIPs
How to evaluate a fund without falling for star ratings. How to build a SIP portfolio that matches your actual goals. When to invest a lump sum vs spread it out.
Tax planning
Section 80C, ELSS, NPS, HRA, home loan benefits, capital gains — explained with real numbers, not just rules. Old vs new tax regime, made simple.
Wealth building
Emergency funds, goal-based investing, retirement planning, asset allocation — the boring stuff that actually decides whether you’ll be financially free.
